User Guidelines

Electronic Facility Use

  1. The College's network should not be used for any unlawful purpose.
  2. Students are answerable for their actions when using the internet and online. They are responsible for any breaches caused by them, or by allowing any other person to use the College network.
  3. Students understand that the College's network activities are monitored; and, any illegal or inappropriate use will be dealt with. This includes reporting the matter to the relevant authorities if required.
  4. Students should not direct any unacceptable or illicit material or remarks, including intimidatory, belligerent, abusive or derogatory comments to anyone, or make extreme or unreasonable demands upon another person. Students must inform their supervising teacher promptly of any inappropriate behaviour.
  5. Students should never send, or request others send, sexually explicit or suggestive materials. Students must report the receipt or request of such material immediately.
  6. Students should never send dishonest or insulting information about a person or organisation to anyone.
  7. Students shall not take unauthorised pictures, record videos or sound of any other student or staff members. The taking and/or showing of images without express written permission is a breach of privacy.
  8. Students will ensure privacy and confidentiality of information at all times, by not disclosing any personal information about others without their permission.
  9. Students must be respectful of other users, be courteous and not interfere with the use of the College network by other device users. Students must act responsibly in the use of the College network, which is solely for educational purposes, treating such use not as a right, but as a privilege.
  10. Students shall desist from using their devices in any manner that would be prejudicial to the good reputation of the College and its community, or compromise cyber safety.
  11. Students shall NOT use the College network, or their device, to do any of the following acts or things:
    1. Gain unauthorised access to any network, website, device, portal or information within or without the College network, or log in to any account, or use any information such as account names or details, codes or passwords, other than those assigned to them and which they are authorised to use;
    2. Commit identity theft;
    3. Conduct any business or commercial activity;
    4. Communicate through or access any social media sites;
    5. Download, copy, generate, reproduce or plagiarise any material in violation of the Copyright and other Intellectual Property Laws;
    6. Access, post or disseminate any material that is defamatory of any person or causes harassment, discrimination, hatred, vilification, or is otherwise hurtful or prejudicial to any person or group of persons;
    7. Be in violation of any state or federal legislation;
    8. Request, upload, download, view, distribute, copy, print, record or store any pornographic or sexually explicit or obscene images, or any other material containing language or images of that description;
    9. Upload, download, view, distribute, copy, print, record or store any material that contains language or images advocating violence, discrimination or hatred towards any person or group of persons;
    10. Any act which is in breach of another policy of the College, including bullying of another person;
    11. Engage in, or commit any act, or assist with, or encourage, the commission of any act that constitutes an offence under state or federal law.
  12. Where a staff member has reasonable grounds to suspect that a student's device contains data, which breaches any of the College's policies or procedures, the Principal, or Delegate, may confiscate the device for the purpose of confirming the existence of the material, and the student must provide any passwords (upon request) to the Principal, or their delegate, to enable the College to investigate the matter. Disciplinary action may be taken, including referral to the police.
  13. The Principal or Delegate will retain the right to determine what is, and is not, appropriate use of devices.
